2 More Ways To Promote Your Blog Via Facebook

Yesterday, I posted about 4 ways you could use to promote your blog via Facebook. Here are two more of these ways. And oh, please do stumble and save this post (Delicious, Mixx)!

Groups

Facebook groups are like regular forums, with little differences (no signatures, more informal, and so on). Facebook groups is a great way to make new friends. There are two ways you can go about this. You can either join existing groups, or make a new one:

Joining Existing Groups

You can make loads of new friends in a particular group, and also promote your blog. Join a group, become an active member, help people out, and therefore build up authority. If you are considered an authority in your group, you might even be promoted, to moderator. Occasionally, put in links to your blog posts within your wall-posts, to help explain something much better; it will not be frowned upon. People will click through your name to see your profile, and if they see a blog URL there, they’ll most probably visit your blog too. Remember that these people are already impressed with you, and they know you know what you talk about.

The thing is, you cannot go far with promoting your blog on these groups, unless you use them properly. It takes time and patience to build up respect and authority, and you can lose all that authority within a second, so don’t do any thing stupid (like spamming).

Create your own Facebook group

This method is more difficult, since you’ll be starting from scratch, and you will have to promote your group too, along with your blog. However, done correctly, it can be rewarding. Here are a few tutorials to get you going in the right direction:

Facebook Ads

This is the paid option to go. With over 80 million active users, and over 25 million of these in the US alone, your advertisement is going to get some attention. Moreover, your advertisement is also targeted: you can target your ad by making it relevant to related actions by the user’s friends, or by age, gender, locality and so on.

So, if you’re looking for some solid traffic, Facebook Ads might be the way to go.

Your Thoughts?

Do you actively use Facebook to promote your blog? If yes, how do you use it? We’d all love to know :)

If you’re using wordpress, I’d recommend the wordbook plugin, as it will deliver a fressh RSS feed directly to your facebook mini-feed.
