5 Fun Things to Do When You Don’t Feel Like Blogging

We all have those times. You don’t feel like blogging. You open up the text editor, but your mind refuses to let the words out. You just sit there, either watching the damn cursor blink and blink, or you simply wander aimlessly around other sites, trying to get a hold of yourself. Or perhaps you’re just feeling low and don’t feel like doing anything?

It’s perfectly normal. There are times when I don’t feel like blogging or doing anything related to it. Especially on Sundays… when I don’t seem to get anything working!

Anyways, there are many things you can do except blog in these situations. But, whatever you do,  don’t blog when you’re not feeling like it. It’ll only result in a mess, perhaps even vomit, but that’s not guaranteed ;)

So, what can you do in such situations?

1.Cut the Connection and Get A Book

The simplest and most effective solution, in my opinion, is to get off the internet and sit down with a good book. Not only will that relieve you of your agony and provide you with entertainment, it may also send some ideas your way, inspiring you to blog, and you may probably get your bloggy enthusiasm back!

2.Read Other Blogs

The thought of reading a particular blog been troubling you since a week? Now is the best time to do so! You have some time at your hands; don’t waste it wandering around aimlessly! Read other blogs and participate in the discussion. Look at what other people have to say. Start up a debate, even a *friendly* fight!

Read blogs outside of your niche. They’re a great source of inspiration. For example, when I’m feeling down and don’t feel like blogging, I often read blogs about life and philosophy. Not only are they refreshing, but they also make me aware of and acknowledge the fact that life has more to it than just blogging.

3.Free Write

I’ve written about this before, and I’m going to say it again. Free writing is a simple but effective way to clear and organize your mind and lets you concentrate. Although this may not have to do much with not feeling like blogging, it can sure provide food for thought and new ideas, and inspire you to start blogging again!

4.Sleep

The most simple of all: sleep. Shut down the computer, and go to sleep. This will recharge your batteries and help you cheer yourself up and start blogging again.

5.Get Out Of The House

When was the last time you felt fresh air brush past your face? Get away from the computer, gather a few friends and/or family and go out for some fun. Play some soccer or cricket or simply wander around.
Force the child in you to come out. Splash in the sea water, roll in the grass, stick your tongue out at the fountain, and jump in the rain puddles. Believe me, this may make you look like an idiot, but it is fun and very good therapy if you’re feeling low.

So there you had it, 5 ways to cure you of blogging sickness. If you employ any techniques that are not in the above list, tell us all about them in the comments!

I love your last point. I do not do this often enough. When I have just had enough I love just going for a walk along the beach and clearing my head.

I like the last one. I spend too much time on the computer. I end up off on tangents and not getting the work done that I need to.

Yes switching off the ‘puter and going out for some fresh air is important for inspiration and for the sake of some fun. You can’t make your self a bloggy geek!

These are some very important points for us to recognize. After a while, we do get tired of blogging and even using the computer. You may want to add drawing to the list, and part of the outside you could also hike.
