How to Be a Kick Ass Blogger
Yo there! If you are new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed, or through email, for more tips on better and effective blogging!
Becoming a blogger is not hard. What’s involved? You just have to set up a blog, and write posts to it (ir)regularly.
But, being a kick ass blogger is something which is not easy to achieve.
Kick ass bloggers most prominently are bold and confident and they are ready they identify fulfill needs and exploit those needs .
Be Bold
Have you an idea which has not been written on extensively by other bloggers and you want to publish it but you’re scared it might bring about a flood of negative criticism? My advice: go ahead and publish it. Be BOLD. That’s one thing that’s going to help you stand out of the crowd.
Even if you have a point which goes against prevailing wisdom, don’t be scared to publish it online on your blog. If you’re afraid of being flamed, read this. (But, if I were you, I would see that criticism in a positive way and improve my self and my blog).
What will this achieve? I agree this will bring negative criticism, but it will also show readers that you’re serious about your blogging, and are not scared to present your viewpoint on something, even if has to go against prevailing wisdom. Perhaps your point may even turn out to be true, devastating the very foundations of the ‘wisdom’ that ‘prevails’; and making you famous instantaneously!
Even though the prevailing wisdom is true, you’ve made your point and shown people that you mean business with your blogging.
Now imagine if you were one of the many bloggers who opted to support the ‘prevailing wisdom’ and someone else followed my advice and went against it; AND your precious prevailing wisdom turned out to be crap, that person gets famous instantaneously, and bloggers like you can only wish and regret.
This also goes to show that being confident of your self as a blogger is very important. Self confidence is important in the real world too, but it’s even more important in the blogging world.
Fulfill a Need
In other words, solve a problem. Develop an application which solves a problem which readers have, or, create such a product that deals with or is very related to a product that is very popular with your readers.
For example, suppose Facebook is very popular with your readers. Why not develop a Facebook app which allows readers to view your most popular or most recent posts right in their profile? Isn’t that so convenient? Try a cheap and easy service called BlogFuse(not aff!) to develop your own Facebook applications.
More over, just don’t limit yourself to social media sites. Develop plugins for blogging platforms(such as WordPress, Movable Type) which solve problems which bloggers have. And then, release them for free! Trust me, your readers will be grateful to you their whole life.
The best part of doing so is that your products could get massively popular, thanks to word-of-mouth publicity. People already using your applications and plugins will recommend them to other people, and so on.
But How?
A question which arises here is that how do you know readers have a problem waiting to be solved? I mean, you’re not a mind reader or such to automatically sniff out problems. And you can’t ‘mind read’ on the web anyway!
The solution here is to ask. There’s nothing to be embarrassed about in asking. Simply ask your readers if they have any problems you could solve. If you’re a plugin developer, set aside a day of the week or a section of your blog to ask and solve problems.
You could also hold a poll on your blog to get to know of issues and problems readers have.
Your turn now. Do you think you are a kick ass blogger? And do you have any points which could make it to the above list?

I think solving a problem is critical, you need to give people a reason to visit. Isn’t posting frequency very important? I am disappointed in my own frequency and know I am not a kickass blogger if I don’t start writing more.
peter - posting frequency does play a part in good blogging too.

But then again, we’re talking about really ’stand-out’ tips. If I had included posting frequency, that would be unfair to all of the many other things that could be included.
P.S: You’re trying to solve the ‘Peter Answers’ *mystery* ?
