I Was Like - Oh My God!

Yo there! If you are new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed, or through email, for more tips on better and effective blogging!

Now I realize how much I take things for granted :(.

What happened was that I was playing around with a post here, trying to make something work in it. I saved the post as normal and then typed in the URL to test it.

Nothing.

The ‘white screen of death’ (for blogs) stared at me. I almost got a heart attack: WHAT THE! I typed in the URL of my blog again: nothing. The URL to the admin area: nothing.

I thought oh my god. To make it worse, I hadn’t made a backup of anything! I thought ‘all my hard work and all my posts are GONE!

I tried deleting some plugins which could have caused problems, to no avail.

I searched frantically all over the internet for the keywords ‘wordpress blog completely blank‘. Then, I saw a similar problem on the WordPress.org forums. That guy had the same problem as me.

Fortunately, that guy had figured out the solution too, which was to rename the ‘plugins’ folder to something other than the word ‘plugins’, like ‘other_plugins’. Then was I able to access my blog and the admin area. Don’t know what doing that did, but I’m happy to get my blog back!!

And oh, after renaming, once the blog was working again, I simply renamed the folder back to ‘plugins’ and activated all the necessary ones.

So, the moral of this horrific story is that you should always make a back up of your wordpress, or any other blog, before something baaaad happens :)!

Note: If any thing like this happens to your blog, try doing what I did above. May be it’ll help!
