Thursday Links Roundup #4

Welcome to the fourth edition of the Thursday Links Roundup. Hope you like this one!
P.S: Once I finish compiling this list, I’ll give the Roundup it’s own page, where you can view all of the them. And oh, send your recommendations for future roundups in the comments!

NOTE: I’ve compiled all of the Roundups done here. The list will automatically be updated in future too.

Web Development

Providing Equivalent Alternatives – Arnold explains the importance of using attributes like alt=”" and title=”" to increase accessibility.

Understanding Web Design – A bit old, but evergreen nonetheless! A great article on what web design really is, and some of the rights and wrongs in the field.

How To Make Your Own Default Avatar in 5 Minutes – Avatars are great to make your blog feel like home to your visitors. Read this tutorial on how to create a default avatar(displayed if the commenter has no avatar) that works.

Enhanced Sidebars with Dynamic Content – For WordPress users, this tutorial describes how to use conditional tags to make your sidebar come to life. A technique used here on PBF too.

Social-Media, Blogging

The Ultimate WordPress Commenting System – A list of great plugins to make commenting a bed of roses for your readers!

10 Aspects of an Effective Social Media Campaign – How to develop a social media campaign that works.

Off-Topic

Once every while, we have to get off our blogs and do something else for a change, to freshen us up and break the monotony. I’m a big advocate of this concept :D

How to be happy – Part 1 – If you’re not happy and you know it…

How to be happy – Part 2 – Part 2 of the above article.

The best password-remembering tip you’ll ever encounter – Build a strong password, without ever forgetting it!

Office Space of Creative People – How does your office space look like?

A Note

I’m going to create a separate dedicated page for the Thursday Links Roundups, so you can get all of them in one place! Keep checking this post for updates. . The page is here.

Also, the point of these roundups is to bring to the front relatively unknown bloggers and designers and writers and such, and to showcase their productivity and creativity. If you would like to have your content linked to in these roundups, or to recommend some, send in a request in the comments!

Thanks to Uqbar for the cover image of the Links Roundups

Thanks for the link, matey. One tip: you might want to remove the Digg button from the post. Digg doesn’t usually like blogging, and you’d be better off placing a badge on a case-by-case basis if you have a post that is getting popular slowly, on Digg.

    Cheers
