Top 10 Tools and Firefox Addons For Digg – Friday Top Ten #1

Welcome to the first episode of Friday Top Ten, which is a weekly top ten list of all things related to blogging. Enjoy!

For this week, I tell you about my top 10 Digg tools and Firefox addons, for power Digging, and enjoying Digg. Enjoy!

Firefox addons

1: Digg This!

Digg This! is a simple addon which adds a Digg This! button to the right-click menu, Tools menu, and also(optional) the toolbar.

If you’re out for some quick and dirty sumitting, this addon is a must!

2: Digg Firefox Extension

Digg Firefox Extension is a an uber cool addon which integrates into Firefox’s main toolbar and displays information about the current page, like the current number of Diggs, the number of comments on the story, the last 10 comments, the last 10 diggers, and so on. Cool!

3: Digg Toolbar

Digg Toolbar is like a virtual Digg in itself. While using this toolbar, you can do all the things you can do on the Digg site. It gives alerts when stories go popular, friends Digg or submit or comment on your stories and more! It also tells you the current number of Diggs on a particular page, and if it has not been submitted yet, it shows a Submit button

4: Smart Digg Button

The Smart Digg Button is a nifty and simple extension for Firefox, and displays the number of Diggs the current page has, and if not, a Submit button.

Compatibility: Firefox version 1.5 – 2.0.0.*

Unfortunately, it is not yet available for Firefox 3.

OnlineServices

5: DiggAlerts

DiggAlerts is rather like Google Alerts, the difference being that it’s for Digg. So, using DiggAlerts, you can setup parameters, and receive alerts of any new submissions (matching those parameters). Cool, huh?

6: Diggitizer

Diggitzer is an online service that looks at the titles of millions of popular Digg submissions, and combines them with given keywords to create laser targeted titles for your Digg submissions!

How cool is that!

Software

7: Dc Digg – iPhone!

DC Digg is an app for the iPhone. It allows you to browse Digg right from your iPhone! How cool is that!

8: Digg Desktop Plugin

The Digg Desktop Plugin is a plugin for Google Desktop, and shows the 10 most recent posts on Digg

9: Digg Alerter

An absolute must for power Digging, Digg Alerter displays your most recent submissions, and alerts you whenever a submission goes popular, is Dugg or is commented upon. It also displays who Dugg or commented on the story. HOT!Really!

10: DiggUpdate

DiggUpdate sends you alerts when new stories hit the frontpage and when friends Digg your submissions.

Plus 2

Your turn now. Suggest your favourite top two tools for Digg, and I’ll add two to this list, to make ‘em 12. Come on! :D

For next week, I’m thinking of doing a top ten list for StumbleUpon. What do you say? :D

Wow, Digg is so popular that it’s worth developing an extension to it. Great collection of tools, most of them I haven’t heard of before.
